Program Overview: Mental Health First Aid is early intervention for mental health problems. It teaches people to recognise the signs and symptoms, which suggest a potential mental health problem and how to refer appropriately. This course will refresh and explore specific categories of mental ill-health such as depression, anxiety, eating disorders, substance misuse, psychosis and how to deal with crises in young people.

Vincent Riviere will partner with the AISSA to lead this work. Vincent has worked in the Child and Adolescent Mental Health and Wellbeing field for the past 18 years, including in a variety of acute clinical settings which include non-government, government, juvenile justice, health, employment assistance programs and both secondary and primary school sectors. Vincent is also an accredited Principal Master Mental Health First Aid facilitator and an industry lecturer within the space of Youth Work, Mental Health, Child and Family Intervention and Community Services. He also works with corporate teams, school leadership, staff and school wellbeing teams within consultancy to support best practice in terms of support, processes, procedures, referral and treatment of students, families and staff suffering from Mental Health difficulties.
