Program Overview: Consider what we know about developing capabilities and how ‘measure what matters’ to communicate success in principled and future focused ways. 

This 5-part series will focus on:

  1. Reimagining Capabilities: Empowering the Curriculum: Consider a new perspective on how to best develop successful capabilities and dispositions leveraging the role of knowledge featured in the ACV9 and the SACE Curriculum. This event will feature global learning and neuroscience expert Dr Jared Cooney Horvath and other guest contributors engaged in this work.
  2. Reimagining Metacognition – Educating to Self-Regulate: Join expert Dr Shyam Barr as he shares key strategies for enhancing metacognition and self-regulation for learning. Empower your students with these core capabilities to unleash their learning potential.
  3. Reimagining Communications of Success Part 1: “More than A Grade: When does what we assess hurt?” This panel discussion will consider current assessment and reporting narratives and shine a light on how to navigate the modern assessment and evidence landscape while considering the new models for communicating learning success to our stakeholders. Featuring Professor Yong Zhao, Dr Jared Cooney Horvath and more. 
  4. Reimagining Metacognition – Educating to Self-Regulate: Dr Shyam Barr continues this work as schools share the most powerful possibilities for enhancing metacognition and self-regulation to empower learners in their contexts.
  5. Reimagining Communications of Success Part 2: As we conclude this series, join world leading assessment expert Dr Thomas Guskey as he illuminates new paths to reflect on how to assess what we value, the key enabling skills and practical approaches evidencing their growth in meaningful ways.
