Description:

“… highly effective teaching is the key to improving student learning throughout the school.”(ACER) “…the best teachers believe in the capacity of their students to learn, and carefully utilize a range of pedagogical approaches to ensure this learning occurs (UNESCO, 2018)

Four catalysts for driving pedagogical improvement will be investigated during these two half-day clinics (on Zoom). The four catalysts are listed below with the provocation that will drive the dialogue and information shared:

Assessment for Learning

  • How do we effectively design and use assessment to gain insight into what our learners understand, know and can do, and engage learners in their learning?

Learning Design

  • How might we design learning where the educative purpose is on conceptual understanding and transfer?

The General Capabilities, Critical and Creative Thinking

  • How might the explicit teaching and embedding of critical and creative thinking throughout learning encourage higher order thinking?

The National Literacy and Numeracy Progressions.

  • How do we use the National Literacy and Numeracy Progressions to focus on our learners and their learning – to gain an understand of where my learners are now and to explore future learning opportunities to support their growth?
