Program Overview: Join Deb Woodard-Knight for two, half-day workshops to gain new insights about the leading and teaching of middle and secondary school mathematics. Engage in practical and collaborative learning and investigate real-world examples drawn from the Australian Curriculum v.9 and senior secondary year curricula (SACE and IB).
In these workshops you will:
- explore teaching for understanding strategies and learning methodologies
- investigate open ended problems to engage all students (at ability levels)
- develop tasks that promote mathematical thinking and high levels of conversation
- explore ways to enhance student involvement, resilience and agency (independent thinking)
- delve into effective teaching strategies for engaging students in computational thinking and mathematical modelling
- explore connections between middle school and senior school mathematics teaching programs
- develop strategies for leading mathematics teaching and learning in schools
- share useful resources
