Date/Time:
15/02/2024 - 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Description:
Following interest expressed by Independent school heads, the AISSA has engaged the services of Halliday Advisory to provide training to AISSA member schools to improve their skills in lobbying Federal, State and Local Governments for the benefit of their respective school communities.
Stephen Halliday has more than 35 years’ experience in a career across media, politics, government and government relations. As the SA Director of Hawker Britton, and now as Principal of Halliday Advisory, Stephen has worked with clients across a wide range of industry sectors and has experience as a journalist in TV and radio at the ABC, Media Adviser to both government and opposition in South Australia, and former Chief of Staff to Mike Rann as both Premier and Opposition Leader in South Australia (1994-2004).
This online session is designed to support participants to better engage with local Federal and State Members of Parliament, governments and councillors covering issues including:
- Understanding your local representatives – who they are, how they work and what drives them.
- Building a relationship with MPs and Councillors – communication that leads to a mutually beneficial relationship.
- Shaping a request and putting your case – clarity in your ask and pitching it the right way
- Bureaucracies – working with Councils and Governments
